Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan did her education in medical sciences and got her MBBS from Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC). She started practicing as a doctor in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore and also started taking part in social work.
She represented Pakistan in Asian Youth Council (Malaysia) as a young political leader in 1997. She won the election of World Assembly of Youth (WAY) in 2000. She elected as Vice President of WAY by defeating India. She served on this position for 4 years and represented Pakistan in more than 92 countries as an emerging young leader.
She headed following five ministries from 2008 to 2013;
Federal Minister for Population Welfare
Federal Minister for Culture
Federal Minister for Women Development
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting
Federal Minister for Health (NRS)
She was appointed as Special Assistant/ Incharge Minister on Information and Broadcasting in April 2019, and served on this position for one year And Now she is serving as special assistant to CM Punjab on Information and Broadcasting
